At Studerus Dentistry, we see a lot of anxious patients and some of them with severe fear of the dentist. But even the patient who’s a little anxious, and maybe they need some more involved dentistry like, you know, an extraction or some implants, or even sometimes people have used sedation for just to get their teeth cleaned.
People come in who are very anxious about the process, we give them a little bit of sedative. And it basically makes that appointment super smooth and easy for that patient. Usually not gonna remember it at all the next day. Now, you can take a patient who is extremely nervous and phobic about the dentist and just have them have a very easy appointment for them, super smooth, and the patient just doesn’t care what we’re doing.
And so, it’s very nice for anything involved, or anybody who is a little bit nervous about the dentist, it works. And it’s also very predictable, very safe. I’ve done sedation dentistry for many, many, many years, and done many, many cases. I mean, so many I can’t count. And it’s people have done extremely well with it.
Calm Your Nerves & Get the Care You Need With Our Sedation
There are many types of patients who come to us for their dental care. That’s why we offer you more than one method of sedation; we believe in giving you choices when it comes to your treatment. We’ll discuss all these options with you so you can decide what’s best for your situation. Your choices include:
- Laughing Gas – For our mildest level of sedation, you’ll breathe in gas through a comfortable mask. It will begin working instantly to give you an all-over feeling of relaxation. You’ll feel light and slightly euphoric while you lie back comfortably in the chair. It wears off without any lingering grogginess.
- Oral Conscious Sedation – For more intense dental phobia, we can prescribe an FDA-approved pill that you’ll take ahead of time. It will help you relax, and you may even feel a bit groggy. Its effects last several hours, so you will need to arrange a ride.
- IV Sedation – This is our deepest level of sedation. You’ll relax in a sleeplike state. You won’t experience any of the sights, smells, or sounds associated with your dental visit. You may not remember anything about your dental care afterward. As with oral sedation, you’ll need a ride.
To give you a special touch of home, we also offer pillows, blankets, headphones, and private patient care rooms.
